Allowed to sweat for up to two years in special warehouses, this India Monsoon Malabar is for the most avid of coffee enthusiasts.

Monsooning may be the strangest way to process coffee. It’s done in Mangalore, along the Malabar Coast of India. Mangalore experiences heavy monsoon rains every summer. Sacks of green coffee are exposed to the moist sea air for a few months before monsoon season. When the rains begin to fall, the bags of coffee are emptied onto a covered patio, where they are periodically raked and turned throughout the rainy season.

This unique aging process develops heavy oak, cedar and leather tones that remind us of the bygone era of the majestic clipper ship.

During a recent anniversary trip to KC, we were turned on to The Roasterie and Monsooned Malabar. Wonderful, smooth yet full flavored coffee with fascinating story! You haven't fully enjoyed a cup of joe until you indulge in this one!
