The Sulawesi Peaberry is an anomaly for coffees grown in Indonesia. Typically the coffees of Indonesia are processed via natural or semi-washed methods. The fully washed processes of the Jaya Estate yield a more fruity and tangy flavor profile as opposed to the typical earthiness that you'll find in Indonesian coffees. Furthermore, the quality control that the Jaya estate utilizes sets it apart--both in practice and on the cupping table. Most of the coffees in the region are sold by volume in regional markets and then sold by weight at a larger, more centralized market. Ultimately, not all of these coffees are subjected to quality control measures. Jaya Estate, on the other hand, not only receives their coffee from trusted farmers and producers near their processing facility, but they also hold extremely rigorous and dedicated quality metrics through which to ensure a superb taste. In the beginning, Jaya Estate was a coordinated venture between Japanese and Indonesian coffee professionals. The farm has always been an eager and willing partner for projects to improve the community, including helping build roads and schools.
