Brumas del Zurquí of Costa Rica Coffee
Roast: Light / Vienna

High up along the lush and mist covered rim of the Costa Rican central valley some of the world’s brightest and most complex coffees are grown. Here the Rodriquez Caraballo family has honed its coffee cultivation techniques since 1880. This century and a half long love affair with coffee culminated in 2004 with the Brumas del Zurquí Estate specialty coffee project. As much a result of falling coffee prices as the growing need for social and ecological reform, the Caraballo clan united all of its expertise and know how into this one unique coffee. Their superior technical handling and strict system of harvesting allows for a magically consistent and high quality cup. More importantly, focus on quality has succeeded in giving a new value to coffee in this community; based on principles of economic viability, environmental consciousness and social security.
Discovered by The Roasterie in early 2006, Brumas del Zurquí Estate coffee is a beautifully smooth and balanced cup. You’ll be amazed by its honey sweetness and sparkling acidity, nicely rounded by clean floral tones and hints of ripe summer fruit. These wonderful qualities helped Brumas del Zurquí to win the award as the best coffee in Costa Rica for 2006. An amazing feat, this award is a testament to the hard work and progressive ideals of the Caraballo family. The Roasterie is proud and excited to add this amazing coffee to its lineup.
